THE use of this exposition is to show how, in these twenty chapters, God disclosed to the children of Israel the whole doctrine of religion from the Fall to the Regeneration, from Adam to the Redeemer. How, having so instructed them, He offered them this redemption; and how, and at what moment, they rejected the Redeemer, the Messiah, and thereby deferred the time of His coming; and necessitated the giving of the typical ceremonial law, to educate them by forms. and parables, and under the second bondage of the Law, for His later coming; and to make ready a people better prepared for the |
