Mr. Capron offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the journal of the House on the 6th, inst. be amended as follows:

At a special session of the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Wisconsin, begun and held on Monday the 6th day of March, 1843, pursuant to the proclamation of the Governor issued on the 30th day of January, 1843-the House was called to order, and the following named members appeared and took their seats, viz:

A message from the Council by their Secretary.

"Mr. Speaker-I am directed to inform this House that Messrs. Barber and Newland have been appointed a committee on the part of the Council to act jointly with a committee appointed by this House under a "resolution relative to referring certain papers to a joint committee."

Mr. Walker moved that the resolution do lie on the table. On motion of Mr. Hamilton,

A call of the House was made and the sergeant-at-arms sent to procure the attendance of Mr. Agry, who was not in his

seat.

Mr. Agry having appeared in the House, further proceedings in the call of the House were dispensed with.

The question was then put on laying the resolution on the table, and determined in the negative.

And the ayes and noes being called for,

Those who voted in the affirmative, are

Messrs. Crossman, Elmore, Long, Manahan, Masters, Platt, Parsons, Tripp, Walker and Ellis, (Speaker)-10.

Those who voted in the negative, are

Messre. Agry, Bartlett, Capron, Darling, Hamilton, Hicks, Hopkins, Hunkins, Judson, Meeker, Olin, Palmer, Price, Thompson, Trowbridge, and Van Vleet-16.

The question then recurred on the passage of the resolution, and being put it was determined in the negative.

And the ayes and noes being called for,

Messrs. Agry, Bartlett, Capron, Hicks, Hopkins, Judson, Manahan, Olin, Palmer, Price, Trowbridge, and Van Vleet-12. Those who voted in the negative, are.

Messrs. Crossman, Darling, Elmore, Hamilton, Hunkins, Long, Masters, Meeker, Platt, Parsons, Thompson, Tripp, Walker, and Ellis, (Speaker.)--14.

A motion was then made by Mr. Hopkins, to reconsider the vote taken on yesterday by which a bill entitled "an act to amend an act authorizing Webster Stanley to maintain a ferry across Fox river, approved February 13, 1842," returned by the Governor with objections, was rejected.

And pending the question thereon, and

On motion of Mr. Meeker,

It was ordered, that the said motion do lie on the table.

On motion of Mr. Hamilton,

The House resumed its session in the committee of the whole

House, Mr. Darling in the chair, on the following bills of this House, to wit:

No. 6, "A bill to divide the town of Warren in the county of Milwaukee, and to establish the town of———"

No. 7, "a bill to provide for the punishment of embezzling public money."

And the following bills from the Council, to wit:

No. 2, a bill to provide for the appointment of a Superintendent of Territorial property and for other purposes."

No. 4, "a bill to annex certain fractions or lots of land to the town of Rock in the county of Rock."

After some time spent therein, the committee rose and reported bills No. 2, 6, and 7 with amendments, and No. 4 without amendment.

The amendments to bill No. 2 were concurred in by the House, and the said bill, and bill No. 4 were ordered to be read the third time.

The amendment made to bill No. 6 was agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed for the third reading.

Ordered, That bill No. 7 be referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Andthen the House adjourned.

Thursday, March 16, 1843.

Mr. Tripp presented the petition of inhabitants of Dane county, praying that township five and six, of ranges eleven and twelve, in said county, be set apart and organized into a town by the name of Clinton; which was referred to the committee on corporations.

The Speaker laid before the House a communication from Jo

seph Ward, relating to the right of the Hon. Andrew E. El. more to a seat is this House.

Which was read, and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Darling offered the following resolution, which was adopted, to wit:

Resolved, That his Excellency, the Governor, be requested to communicate to this House, any vouchers or papers, or any in. formation in his possession, showing that any member or members of the last Legislative Assembly, received or took pay for more than seventy-five days at said session.

Mr. Thompson gave notice that on some future day he should ask leave to introduce bills as follows:

A bill for the collection of certain taxes in the county of Milwaukee, and

A bill to amend an act entitled an act to provide for the print. ing and distribution of the laws of Wisconsin.

The undermentioned bills and resolutions from the Council, were read the first and second times, to wit:

No. 6," a bill to authorize the register of deeds of Washington county to procure copies of certain records from the office of the register of deeds of Milwaukee county."

No. 7, "a bill to authorize Henry Thien to build a dam on the Milwaukee river,"

No. 8. "a bill to change the name of Henry Sanders Brown," and resolution

No. 1, "joint resolution to authorize the cancelling of certain canal bonds."

Bills on their passage being announced,

No. 4, [C. F.] "a bill to annex certain fractions or lots of

land to the town of Rock, in the county of Rock," was read the third time, passed, and the title thereof agreed to.

No. 6, entitled "a bill to divide the town of Warren, in the county of Milwaukee, and to establish the town of

Ordered, That the undermentioned bills from the Council do lie on the table, to wit:

No. 2, "a bill to provide for the appointment of a Superintendent of Territorial property and for other purposes."

No. 9, "a bill to legalize the proceedings of the inhabitants of Winnebago county, in the organization' of said coun. ty."

Ordered, That the undermentioned bill from the Council be recommitted to the committee of the whole House, to wit: No. 10, "a bill to change the boundaries of certain towns therein named."

On motion of Mr. Agry,

The House resolved itself into the committee of the whole House, Mr. Elmore in the chair, having the last named bill under consideration, and after a short time spent therein, the committee rose and the chairman reported the bill to the House with amendments, which were agreed to.

Ordered, That said bill be read the third time.

The House then resolved itself into the committee of the whole House, Mr. Walker in the chair, having under considera. tion the following memorial of this House, to wit:

No. 1, "memorial to Congress relative to the canal lands." And the following bills and resolution from the Council, to wit:

No. 6, "a bill to authorize the register of deeds of Washing. ton county to procure copies of certain records from the office of register of deeds of Milwaukee county."
