CHAP. X. OREOVER, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

t 4 And did all drink the same
spiritual drink: (For they drank of
that spiritual Rock that followed
them and that Rock was Christ.
t 5 But with many of them God
was not well pleased: for they were
overthrown in the wilderness.
p 6 Now these things were our
examples, to the intent we should
not lust after evil things, as they
also lusted.

15 I speak as to wise men ; judge ye what I say.

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? t 17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices, partakers of the altar?

19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? t 20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

p 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them: as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. p 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them commit-jealousy? are we stronger than he? ted, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

P 9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as
some of them also tempted, and

p 10 Neither murmur ye, as some
of them also murmured, and were
destroyed of the destroyer.

22 Do we provoke the Lord to

nor to the church of God.

CHAP. XI.

12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. 13 Judge in yourselves: Is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. p 16 But if any man be contentious, we have no such

17 Now in this that I declare unto you, I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered, dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.

21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

CHAP. XII. concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been

all made to drink into one Spirit.
i 14 For the body is not one mem-
ber, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because 1 am not the hand, I am not of the jbody; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

t 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God, calleth Jesus! 18 But now hath God set the accursed: and that no man can say members every one of them in the that Jesus is the Lord, but by the body, as it hath pleased him. Holy Ghost.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22 Nay, much more those mem-I bers, of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mys teries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, am nothing.

9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

11 Therefore, if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

d 12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
