He built the Vicarage Houfe of Llan-faintffraid.

11. HENRY PARRY October 1696. He was Rector of Llan-ddervel in Merionethfhire, and died 1705.

12. HUMPHREY FOULKES, A. M. fince D.D. June 19, 1705-by Beveridge, and 1709 became Rector of Marchwiail. He died in 1737-8.

13. JOHN DUBERDIEU, A M. February 19, 1737-8-by Maddox, which he exchanged for Llanufydd Prebend in 1743.

14. JOHN SWYNTON, A. M. of Wadham College, Oxford-by Lifle, October 11, 1743. He was afterwards Chaplain of Christ Church, Oxford, and died 1777. He was very well verfed in the Ori

ental Languages, and wrote feveral Pieces of Poetry in those Languages, which are printed in the Oxford Collection of Verfes upon public Occafions.

2. WILLIAM de LANGEBURG died, it feems, poffeffed of this Prebend, by Leoline ab Madox, 1366.

3. HENRY DE SPONDON, in 1366. He was Rector of St. John's Zechary Church, London.-Vide Second Appendix, Spondon.

He was Vicar of Llan-y-blodwell 1729, Rector of the Sine Cure of Darowen in 1737, Vicar of Llan-rhaider yn Moch-nant in 1747, Rector of the Sine Cure of Hope instead of Darowen in 1771, and Rector of Llan-vawr inftead of Hope 1774. He was Prebendary of York Cathedral, and died 1778. He was Chaplain to Bishop Drummond. He published, "An Effay upon Redemp

dral, explains the Name Curfal thus, "Among the "Prebendaries, you will obferve fix who are called "Curfals. They have no fixed Corpfe as the other "Prebendaries have, but have a Penfion, which is

paid them by the Chapter, which is about £2 a "Piece per Annum. Of these there are twenty"two in all, but then fixteen of them are paid to "the Dignitaries and Prebendaries, and the fix re

Tithes of the Parish of St. David and Whitchurch "Parish adjoining to it, were anciently divided "into twenty-two Portions allotted to twenty-two

Curfals, but not in a fixed Manner, fo that every "Man fhould have his own particular Lot; but "they received their Lots or Portions in a Cycle; "which made a fixed and known Courfe among "them, from which thefe fix Prebends are properly "called Curfals."
