THE writer of the following Discourse, is induced to offer it to the public, in the hope of furnishing the general reader with a correct scriptural statement of an Article in his Creed―The Holy Catholic Church. Such an attempt may not be deemed altogether useless, from the circumstances of the times; and more especially from the efforts, now making in the County Palatine of Lancashire, and in distracted unhappy Ireland, by the adherents of Papal Rome. May God, in his mercy, avert the evil of their designs, and inspire the national Councils of Great Britain to resist their machinations with wisdom and firmness. |
