A Pfalm of David.

THE LORD is my light and my falva is the ftrength of my life; of whom fhall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 1 3 Though an hoft fhould encamp against me, my heart fhall not fear: though war fhould rise against me, in

this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I defired of the LORD, that will I feek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

1 David praiseth God for his deliverance: 4 be exhorteth others to praise him by example of God's dealing with him. A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the houfe of David.

I Will extol thee, O LORD; for thou haft lifted me up, and haft not made my foes to rejoice over me.

2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou haft healed me.

3 O LORD, thou haft brought up my foul from the grave: thou haft kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye faints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

6 And in my prosperity I said, I fhall rever be moved.

7 LORD, by thy favour thou haft made my mountain to ftand ftrong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made fupplication.

9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? fhall the dust praise thee? fhall it declare thy truth?

10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.

ir Thou haft turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou haft put off my fackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

12 To the end that my glory may fing praise to thee, and not be filent. Ŏ LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou haft confidered my trouble; thou haft known my foul in adversities;

8 And haft not fhut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou haft fet my foot in a large room.

9 Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is confumed with grief, yea, my foul and my belly.

10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with fighing: myftrength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are confumed.

11I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did fee me without fled from me.

12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken veffel.

13 For I have heard the flander of many fear was on every fide: while they took counsel together against me, they devifed to take away my life.

14 But I trufted in thee, O LORD: I faid, Thou art my God.

15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that perfecute me.

16 Make thy face to fhine upon thy fervant fave me for thy mercies' fake.

17 Let me not be afhamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be filent in the grave.

18 Let the lying lips be put to filence; which fpeak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

19 Ob how great is thy goodness, which thou haft laid up for them that fear thee; Hh 4

20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy prefence from the pride of man: thoufhalt keep them fecretly in a pavilion from the ftrife of tongues.

21 Bleffed be the LORD: for he hath fhewed me his marvellous kindness in a ftrong city.

1822 For faid in my hafte, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardeft the voice of my fupplications when I cried unto thee.

23 O love the LORD, all ye his faints: for the LORD preferveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
