5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he thall not go out to war, neither fhall he be charged with any business: but he fhall be free at home one year, and fhall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

6 No man fhall take the nether or the upper milftone to pledge: for he taketh a man's life to pledge.

7 ¶ If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Ifrael, and maketh merchandise of him, or felleth him; then that thief fhall die; and thou halt put evil away from among you.

8 Take heed in the plague of leprofy, that thou obferve diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites fhall teach you: as I commanded them, fo ye fhall obferve to do.

9 Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye were come forth out of Egypt.

10 When thou doft lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his houfe to fetch his pledge.

II Thou shalt ftand abroad, and the man to whom thou doft lend fhall bring out the pledge abroad unto thee.

12 And if the man be poor, thou fhalt not fleep with his pledge:

13 In any cafe thou fhalt deliver him the pledge again when the fun goeth down, that he may fleep in his own raiment, and blefs thee: and it fhall be righteousness unto thee before the LORD thy God.

14 ¶ Thou shalt not opprefs an hired fervant that is poor and needy, whether be be of thy brethren, or of thy ftrangers that are in thy land within thy gates:

15 At his day thou fhalt give him his hire, neither fhall the fun go down upon it; for he is poor, and fetteth his heart upon it: left he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be fin unto thee.

17 Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the ftranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take the the widow's raiment to pledge:

18 But thou fhalt remember that thou waft a bondınan in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

19 When thou cutteft down thine harveft in thy field, and hast forgot a fheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it fhall be for the ftranger, for the fatherlefs, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may blefs thee in all the work of thine hands.

20 When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou fhalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the ftranger, for the fatherlefs, and for the widow.

21 When thou gathereft the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it af terward: it fhall be for the stranger, for the fatherlefs, and for the widow.

22 And thou fhalt remember that thon waft a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

CHAP. XXV.

1 Stripes must not exceed forty. 4 The ox is not to be muzzled. 5 Of raifing feed unto a brother. II Of the immodeft woman. 13 Of unjust weights. 17 The memory of Amalek is to be blotted out.

F there be a controverfy between men,

and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they fhall juftify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

2 And it fhall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge fhall caufe him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.

3 Forty itripes he may give him, and not exceed: left, if he fhould exceed, and beat him above thefe with many ftripes, ther thy brother fhould feem vile unto thee.

4 Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

5 If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead fhall not marry without unto a ftranger: her husband's brother thall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an huf band's brother unto her.

6 And it fhall be, that the firstborn which the beareth fhall fucceed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Ifrael.

Chap. xxvi.

14 Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.

15 But thou shalt have a perfect and juft weight, a perfect and just measure fhalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

16 For all that do fuch things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

17 Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

18 How he met thee by the way, and fmote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou waft faint and weary; and he feared not God. 19 Therefore it fhall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee reft from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to poffefs it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

CHAP. XXVI. The confeffien of him that offereth the basket of firfifruits. 16 The covenant between God and the people.. AND it hall be, when thou art come

10 And now, behold, I have brought the firftfruits of the land, which thou, O LORD, haft given me. And thou shalt fet it before the LORD thy God, and worship before the LORD thy God:

II And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

12 When thou haft made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and haft given it unto the Levite, the ftranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;

13 Then thou fhalt fay before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine houfe, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherlefs, and to the

widow, according to all thy command

ments which thou haft commanded me: I have not tranfgreffed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:

14 I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away

10 Thou fhalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his ftatutes, which I command thee this day.

12 Thefe fhall, ftand upon mount Gerizim to blefs the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Iffachar, and Jofeph, and Benjamin:

13 And these fhall ftand upon mount Ebal to curfe; Reuben, Gad, and Afher, and Zebu un, Dan, and Naphtali.

14 T And the Levites fhall fpeak, and fay unto all the men of Ifrael with a loud voice,

15 Curfed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftfman, and putteth it in a fecret place. And all the people fhall answer and fay, Amen.

16 Curfed be he that fetteth light by

7 And thou halt offer peace offerings,

18 Curfed fhall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy fheep.

19 Curfed halt thou be when thou comeft in, and curfed halt thou be when thou goeft out.

20 The LORD fhall fend upon thee curfing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou fetteft thine hand unto for to do, until thou be deftroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou haft forfaken me.

13 And the LORD fhall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou fhalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the

26 And thy carcafe fhall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beafts of the earth, and no man fhall fray them away.

27 The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the fcab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.

48 Therefore fhalt thou ferve thine enemies which the LORD fhall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakednefs, and in want of all things: and he fhall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

49 The LORD fhall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth as fauift as the eagle flieth; a nation whole tongue thou shalt not un

33 The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, fhall a nation which thou know-derstand; eft not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppreffed and crushed alway:

34 So that thou fhalt be mad for the fight of thine eyes which thou fhalt fee. 35 The LORD fhall fmite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a fore botch that cannot be healed, from the fole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.

50 A nation of fierce countenance, which fhall not regard the person of the old, nor thew favour to the young:

51 And he fhall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be deftroyed: which also fhall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy fheep, until he have deftroyed thee.

52 And he fhall befiege thee in all thy

55 So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he fhall eat because he hath nothing left him in the fiege, and in the ftraitnefs, wherewith thine enemies fhall distress thee in all thy gates.
