mf FAR down the ages now,

mp 2

Her journey well-nigh done,

The pilgrim Church pursues her way,
In haste to reach the crown.
The story of the past
Comes up before her view;
How well it seems to suit her still,
Old, and yet ever new!

'Tis the same story still,

Of sin and weariness;

cr Of grace and love still flowing down To pardon and to bless :

dim No wider is the gate,

No broader is the way,

No smoother is the ancient path,
That leads to light and day.

Through evil and through good; Through pain and poverty and want, Through peril and through blood: Still faithful to our God, And to our Captain true; f We follow where He leads the way, The Kingdom in our view. Amen.

fCLORIOUS things of thee are spoken, mf 3 Blest inhabitants of Zion,

Zion, city of our God;

He, Whose word cannot be broken,
Formed thee for His own abode :
On the Rock of Ages founded,

What can shake Thy sure repose?
With salvation's walls surrounded,

Thou mayst smile at all thy foes.

f[2 See, the streams of living waters,
Springing from eternal love,
Well supply thy sons and daughters,
And all fear of want remove :
Who can faint, while such a river

Ever flows their thirst to assuage;
Grace, which, like the Lord the giver,
Never fails from age to age?]

Washed in the Redeemer's blood;
Jesus, Whom their souls rely on,

Makes them kings and priests to God.
'Tis His love His people raises
Over self to reign as kings;
And as priests, His solemn praises
Each for a thankoffering brings.

mf 4 Saviour, if of Zion's city

I, through grace, a member am,
Let the world deride or pity,
I will glory in Thy name :

dim Fading is the worldling's pleasure,
All his boasted pomp and show;

cr Solid joys and lasting treasure
