Since Tanaquil Faber pretended that Eufebius, who twice alleges this Teftimony of Jofephus, as we fhall fee presently, did himself forge it out of his own Head: Hear what this our accurate Examiner of its Style, Mr. Daubuz, fays as to that Matter, and judge what little Reafon Faber had on his Side, when, on Account of its Style, he not only denied the Paffage to belong to Jofephus, but fuppofed it to be the Compofition of Eufebius. His Words in Engli/h are thefe: « I affirm, that I "have found the Style of Eufebius to be intirely "unlike to this Teftimony in Jofephus; and that "there is fcarce one Phrafe in this whole Paffage "which expreffes the genuine familiar Language of ss Eufebius. And wonderful it is, that, while he did not receive Jefus for Chrift, he did neverthelefs bear witnefs that Fames was fo righteous a Man. He fays farther, that the People thought that they fuffer'd these things for the Sake of James.
