Minister. Let us pray. OUR FATHER! who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us, day by day, our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. ALMIGHTY GOD! unto whom all hearts are open, all desires are known, and from whom no secrets are hidden; purify the thoughts of our hearts, that we may truly love thee, and worthily praise thy holy name, now and for ever. Amen. General thanksgiving. ALMIGHTY GOD! father of all mercies! we, thy servants, do give thee most humble and and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all men; (particularly to those, who desire now to offer up their praises and thanks for thy late mercies vouchsafed unto them.) We thank thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but, above ali, for thine inestimable love in pointing out to us the means of obtaining thy favour and everlasting happiness, by the gospel of our lord Jesus Christ. And, we beseech thee, give us that just sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we may praise thee, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by devoting ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days, according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Amen. Concluding prayer. ALMIGHTY GOD! who hast disposed us, at this time, with one accord to make our common supplications; and hast especially encouraged us, by our lord Jesus Christ, to make known our humble requests unto thee; fulfil now, o thou the giver of every good! the desires and petitions of thy servants, in such manner as may be most expedient for them; granting us, in this world, the knowledge of thy truth; and, in the world to come, life everlasting. Amen. MAY the favour of our lord Jesus Christ be with us all evermore. Amen. I Cor. xvi. 23. Phil. iv. 23. THE -1 THE ADMINISTRATION OF ; THE LORD'S SUPPER, OR, HOLY COMMUNION. The minister shall say to those who come to receive the holy communion : YE, who do truly and earnestly repent of your sins, and are in love and charity with your neighbours; who intend to lead a religious and virtuous life, following the commandments of GOD, and walking from henceforth in his holy ways, partake of this holy ordinance, instituted in commemoration of the ministry and death of our lord and master, Jesus Christ; and make your humble confession to almighty GOD. Then shall this general confession be made by the minister and people. ALMIGHTY GOD! father of our lord Jesus Christ, and of all mankind! judge of all men! we acknowledge and lament the many sins and wickednesses, which we, from E 4 from time to time, have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against thy divine majesty, provoking, most justly, thy displeasure against us. We do earnestly repent of, and are heartily sorry for, these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us. Have mercy upon us, most merciful father! forgive us all that is past; and influence us, by the dispensations of thy providence, henceforward to serve and please thee, in holiness of life; to the honour and glory of thy name. Amen. Minister. ALMIGHTY GOD! our heavenly father! who, of thy great mercy, hast promised forgiveness of sins to all those, who heartily repent and turn unto thee; have mercy upon us; pardon and deliver us from all our sins; confirun and strengthen us in all goodness; and bring us to everlasting life, through the gospel of Jesus Christ our lord. Amen. The minister shall then say, HEAR the words which Jesus Christ saith to all, who truly turn unto him: "Come |
