1836 between Abel C. Pepper, commissioner on the part of the United States and Paukoo-shuck, Aub-ba-naubbas oldest son, and the headmen of Aub-ba - naub-bas band of Pottawatomie Indians, on the eleventh day of April, in the year eigtheen hundred and thirty six. Which treaty is in the words following to wit:

Articles of a treaty made and concluded at a camp, on Tippecanoe river, in the State of Indiana, between Abel C. Pepper commissioner on the part of the Uni ted States and Paukoo-shuck, Aub-bab-naub-bas sol'dest son and the headmen of Aub - bab - naub-bas band of Pottawatomie Indians this eleventh day of Aprilia the year eigtheen hundred and thirty six.

Art. 1. The aforesaid Paukoo-shuck and the headmen of Aub-bab - naub- bas band hereby cede to the United States the thirty six sections of land reserved for them by the second article of the treaty bet ween the United States and the Pottawatomie Indians on Tippecanoe river on the twenty sixth day of Octobre, in the year eighteen hundred and thirty two.

Art. 2. In consideration of the cession aforesaid, the United States stipulate to pay to the aforesaid band the sum of twenty three thousand, and forty dol lars in specie, one half at the first payment of annuity after the ratification of this treaty, and the other half at the succeeding payment of annuity,

Art. 3. The above named Paukoo-shuck, and hist band agree to remove to the country west of the Mississippi river, provided for the Pottawatomie nation by the United States within two years.

Art. 4. At the request of the above named band it is stipulated that after the ratification of this treaty, the United States shall appoint a commissioner who shall be authorized to pay such debts of the said band as may be proved to his satisfaction to be just, to be deducted from the amount stipulated in the 2nd article of this treaty,

Art. 5. This treaty, after the same shall be ratified by the President and Senate of the United States shall be binding upon both parties.

In testimony whereof the said Abel C. Pepper com missioner as aforesaid, and the said Paukoo-shuck and his band, have hereunto set their bands this ele

Now therefore be it known, that I, Andrew Jackn, President of the United States of America, hang seen and considered the said treaty, do, in purtance of the advice and consent of the Senate, as exessed in their resolution of the twentieth day of May, e thousand eight hundred and thirty six accept, ratify did confirm the same, with the exception of the fourth ticle, as excepted in the aforesaid resolution of the hate, which fourth article is as follows: "Art. 4. To all and singular to whom these presents shall come Greeting:

Whereas a Treaty was made and concluded at the Indian Agency in the State of Indiana, between Abel C. Pepper, commissioner on the part of the United States and O-kah-mause, Kee-waw-nay, Nee-boash, and Mat-chis-jaw, chiefs and headmen of Pottawatomie tribe of Indians and their bands, on the twenty-second day of April, in the year 1836, which treaty is in the words following to wit:

Articles of a treaty made and concluded at the Indian Agency, in the State of Indiana, between Abel C. Pepper, commissioner on the part of the United States and O-kah-mause, Kee-waw-nay, Nee-boash, and Mat-chis-jaw, chiefs and headmen of the Pottawatomie, tribe of Indians and their bands, on the twenty sixth day of April, in the year eighteen hundred and thirty six.

Art. 1. The above named chiefs and headmen and their bands, hereby cede to the United States, te sections of land, reserved for them by the second article of the treaty, between the United States and the Pottawatomie tribe of Indians, on Tippecanoe river, on the 26th day of October, in the year 1832.

Art. 2. In consideration of the cession aforesaid, the United States stipulate to pay to the above named chiefs and headmen and their bands the sum of six thousand four hundred dollars, at the first payment of annuity, after the ratification of this treaty.

Art. 3. The above named chiefs and headmen and 1836 ir bands agree to remove to the country west of Mississippi river, provided for the Pattawatomie bes by the United States within two years.

Art. 4. At the request of the above named chiefs 1 bands it is stipulated that after the ratification of s treaty, the United States shall appoint a commisner, who shall be authorized to pay such debts of said bands as may be proved to his satisfaction to just, to be deducted from the amount stipulated in second article of this treaty.

Art. 5. The United States stipulate to provide for payment of the necessary expenses attending the king and concluding this treaty.

Art. 6. This treaty, after the same shall be ratified the President and Senate of the United States, all be binding upon both parties.

In testimony whereof, the said Abel C. Pepper, mmissioner as aforesaid, and the said chiefs and admen and their bands, have hereunto set their nds, this 22d day of April A. D. 1836.

Art. 1. The above named chiefs and headmen and their bands hereby cede to the United States three sections of land reserved for them by the second article of the treaty between the United States and the Pottawatomie tribe of Indians of Tippecanoe river on the 26th day of October 1832.
