FOR EVERY DAY IN
THE COURSE OF THE CHRISTIAN YEAR
WITH A FORM OF
Responsive Prayers for One Week
BY THE REV. J. J. DILLON, M.A.
14000, f. 17.
NO apology is necessary in introducing this work
to the notice of the public. Though the list of “Family Prayers” is indeed long, yet the following work differs considerably from any hitherto published.
The Prayer Book is of course the model of worship for all faithful members of the Anglican branch of the Holy Catholic Church. This work has been framed on that model. The scriptural portions have been chosen from the Daily Lessons as appointed in the Lectionary. If the master of the house so desires, he may read the whole Lesson or such portion as he may think most suited to the wants of his household, instead of confining himself to the brief passage which stands at the head of each page.
A short comment on this passage follows. It has often been felt that to read a chapter of the Bible simply without one word of explanation, and without an effort to bring home its teaching to the heart, is, where there are many children and servants, of littló avail.
