We are not as many, who corrupt the word of God (or deal falsely with the word).-2 Cor. ii. 17. taught, whether by word, or our epistle.-2 Thess. ii. 15. There are some who would pervert the gospel, &c. But though we, or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed: as we said before, so say I now again; if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. The gospel, &c. I neither received it of man, &c. but by the revelation of Jesus.-Gal. i. 7-9. 11, 12. The Scripture foreseeing that God would, &c. He who doth not abide in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God, &c. It was needful for me to write to you, and exhort you, that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. I will put you in remembrance, though ye once knew, &c. Christ sent and signified by his angel unto his servant John, the things which must shortly come to pass, &c. Blessed is he who readeth, and they who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein, &c. Write the things which thou hast seen, &c.-Rev. i. 1. 3. 19. Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither di→ minish from it.-Deut. iv. 2. Matt. xv. 3-6. Every word of God is pure, &c. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.-Prov, xxx. 5, 6. I testify, &c. if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto Men by their traditions make void the word of God, reject the command of God, making the word of God of none effect.-Mark vii. 7-9. 13. CHAP. II. Of God: His Nature, Attributes, and Works. The Lord is also known by the judgment which he executeth. But the scriptures having given us a plainer and fuller account of the divine Being, than the reason of man can discover of itself; the best and easiest way of coming to the right knowledge of God, is by his word. From whence we learn, that He is the Maker, Preserver and Governor of all things that he is a Being every way perfect; the only God; who hath The Name of the Lord, the everlasting God.-Gen. xxi. 33. The Lord, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth.-Gen. xxiv. 3. 7. And God said unto Moses, I AM that I AM, &c. Thus shall you say, THAT Which may be known of God is &c. I AM hath sent me unto you. manifest: for, the heavens declare The Lord God of your fathers, the the glory of God, and the firmament God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, sheweth his handy work: so that we and the God of Jacob hath sent me, are without excuse, if, by the things &c.
