15 Gladden us according to the days,

During which Thou hast afflicted us-

According to the years,

During which we have seen calamity.

16 Let Thy doings be shown unto Thy servants,
And Thy glory unto their children.

17 Let the favour of the Lord our God be upon us;
And establish for us the work of our hands,
Yea, establish Thou the work of our hands!

PSALM XCI.

1 HE who dwelleth under the shelter of the most HighWho maketh his abode under the shadow of the Almighty2 Who saith: "JEHOVAH is my refuge and my fortress, "My God, in whom I place my trust "

3 Truly, He will rescue thee from the snare of the fowlerFrom the destroying plague.

4 With His feathers will He cover thee,

And under His wings thou shalt find refuge;

His faithfulness shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Thou shalt not be affrighted at the terrors of the nightAt the arrow which flieth by day—

6 At the plague which walketh in the darknessAt the pestilence which destroyeth at noon-day.

17 favour Heb. sweetness, agreeableness.

PSALM XCI.

1 under the shelter Heb. in the secret
place.
2 my trust

The Psalmist here breaks

off, and instead of completing the sentence, by pointing out the happiness of such a person, proceeds to address him as though present.

4 feathers Compare Ps. xvii. 8. Note 2.

7 Though a thousand fall at thy` side-
Yea, ten thousand at thy right hand,
It shall not approach unto thee.

8 Thou shalt only behold with thine eyes,
And shalt see the recompense of the wicked.
9"Truly Thou, O JEHOVAH, art my refuge!"

Thou hast made the most High thy protection;

10 There shall no evil happen unto thee,

Nor any stroke of calamity come nigh unto thy tent. 11 For He shall give His angels command concerning thee, To keep thee in all thy ways.

12 In their hands shall they bear thee up,

Lest thou strike thy foot against a stone.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the asp,

Thou shalt trample under foot the young lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he hath set his affection upon Me,

15

"I will deliver him;

"I will defend him,

"Because he hath acknowledged My Name."
"When he calleth upon Me, I will answer him,
"I will be with him in trouble;

"I will extricate him, and bring him to honour.
16 "With length of days will I satisfy him,
"And I will show him My salvation."

PSALM XCII.

IT is right to sing praises unto JEHOVAH,
And to hymn unto Thy Name, O most High-
2 To proclaim in the morning Thy loving-kindness,
And Thy faithfulness in the night-season,

3 Upon the ten-stringed instrument, even the lute—
Upon the psaltery with the harp.

4 Because Thou hast gladdened me, O JEHOVAH, by Thy doings,

I will sing aloud of the works of Thy hands.

5 How great are Thy works, O JEHOVAH!
How very profound are Thy thoughts!
6 An ignorant man doth not know-
Nor doth a fool understand this.

7 Though the wicked shoot forth, like grass,
And all the workers of iniquity flourish;
They will be destroyed for ever!

8 But Thou, O JEHOVAH, dwellest on high unto eternity!

9 For behold, Thine enemies, O JEHOVAH

For behold, Thine enemies perish!

All the workers of iniquity are scattered abroad!

10 But Thou exaltest my horn, like the horns of the bull;

I am anointed with fresh oil.

11 Mine eye witnesseth the fall of mine enemies

Of those who rise up against me;

Mine ears hear the condemnation of the wicked.

12 The righteous shoot forth, like the palm tree;
They grow up, like the cedar of Lebanon.
13 Planted in the House of JEHOVAH,

They flourish in the courts of our God. 14 Even in old age they produce shoots,

They are full of moisture, and green.

15 Thus do they proclaim that JEHOVAH, my rock, is upright, And that there is no iniquity in Him.

PSALM XCIII.

1 JEHOVAH reigneth!

HE is robed-JEHOVAH is robed in majesty !
HE hath girded Himself with strength!

Yea, the world is firmly fixed, it cannot be moved!

2 THY throne hath been established from of old! THOU art from everlasting!

3 O JEHOVAH, the torrents raise

The torrents raise their voice;

The torrents raise their tumultuous roar.

4 JEHOVAH, on high, is mightier

Than the voices of many waters—

Than the mighty breakers of the sea!

5 THY revealed will is very sure! Holiness graceth Thy House!

JEHOVAH endureth for ever!

PSALM XCIV.

1 O GOD of vengeance, O JEHOVAHO God of vengeance, shine forth!

2 Arise, O Judge of the earth,

Return a due recompense unto the proud. 3 How long, O JEHOVAH, shall the wickedHow long shall the wicked exult?

4 How long shall they pour forth harsh words?

5

How long shall all the workers of iniquity make loud boasting?

They grind Thy people, O Jehovah,

And afflict Thine inheritance.

6 They slay the widow and the stranger,
And put the orphan to death.

7 They say: "JEHOVAH will not see,
"Nor will the God of Jacob consider!"

8 Consider, ye most ignorant people;

O fools, when will ye learn wisdom?

9 HE, who planted the ear-shall He not hear?

Or He, who formed the eye-shall He not see?

10 HE, who chastiseth the nations-shall He not rebuke? HE, who teacheth man knowledge!

11 JEHOVAH knoweth the thoughts of man;

He knoweth that they are vain.

12 Happy is the man whom Thou instructest, O JEHOVAH, And teachest by Thy law;

13 To give him tranquillity in the days of evil,

Until the pit is digged for the wicked!

14 For JEHOVAH will not desert His people, Nor forsake His inheritance.
