PRECIOUS in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints. Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God. FOR all thy saints, O God, Who strove in Christ to live, Who followed him, obeyed, adored, For all thy saints, O God, Accept our thankful cry, Who counted Christ their great reward. They all, in life and death, With him, their Lord, in view, To suffer and to do. For this thy name we bless, And humbly pray that we ALMIGHTY God, who hast knit together all gener ship, in thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord: grant us grace to follow thy blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living; and make us partakers with them of those unspeakable joys which thou hast prepared for them that unfeignedly love thee. O Lord most high, with thy whole church throughout the world we give thanks to thee for all thy saints departed; and for the hope of future joy in the resurrection of the just. Oh let the cloud of witnesses, the innumerable company of those who have gone before and entered into rest, be to us an example of godly life: even now may we rejoice in their happiness; and with patience may we so run the race that is set before us as to have an entrance administered abundantly into thy heavenly presence, to be united with them and the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. BE EHOLD, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right, and hath not oppressed any, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment; he that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man, hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord God. Honor all men. For there is no respect of persons with God. O GOD of the living, in whose eyes Released from earthly toil and strife, Thine are their thoughts, their works, their powers, For well we know, where'er they be, Our dead are living unto thee. Thy word is true, thy will is just ; To thee we leave them, Lord, in trust; That none might fear that world to see THOU Father of all souls: we rejoice to know that thou hast never left the world without a witness of thyself; giving thy children rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, and filling our hearts with food and gladness, and rendering to every man according to his deeds. O God, who declarest thy almighty power most chiefly in showing mercy mercifully grant unto us such a measure of thy grace, that we may run the way of thy commandments, and be made partakers of thy heavenly blessedness. Amen. OR we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the FOR For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. ; For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. NEED it is we raise our eyes Up from earth towards the skies; Thee in them, O Lord most high, Let their praises, heavenly King, HEAVENLY Ws to bless and praise thy holy [EAVENLY Father, we would call upon our souls and name, and to forget not thy benefits, who forgiveth our iniquities, who healeth our diseases; who redeemeth our lives from destruction, and crowneth us with loving-kindness and tender mercy. Oh! teach us to thank thee aright; to show forth thy praise not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days. Amen. A CERTAIN man went down from Jerusalem to Jeri cho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was ; and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. WHO is thy neighbor? he whom thou Hast power to aid or bless; Whose aching heart or burning brow Thy neighbor? pass no sufferer by: A breaking heart from misery; LORD, strengthen our faith; kindle it more in fervor and in love to thee and to our neighbor. Suffer us not to receive thy word in vain; grant us thy grace, that in heart, word, and deed we may be thine for evermore. Amen. A ND the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie; but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. ONE Sweetly welcome thought I am nearer home to-day Than I ever have been before. Where the many mansions be, Nearer the great white throne, Nearer that bound of life Where we lay our burdens down, Nearer leaving the cross, On the rock of a living faith. ALMIGHTY and everlasting God: accept, we bestelt thee, of thy goodness, the high praise and heartfelt thanks we offer unto thee for thy wonderful graces manifested in thy saints, who have shone forth as lights in their several generations; Patriarchs, Prophets, and Martyrs, whom we commemorate with gladness of heart; and for whom, with all other thy happy servants, our fathers and brethren, departed this life in thy faith and fear, we laud and magnify thy glorious name; humbly entreating that we may have grace so to follow their blessed examples, that, when we also take our leave of this world, we may be united with them in the resurrection of the just and the fellowship of heaven. Amen. |
