LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure

of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity.

Surely every man walketh like a shadow: surely he disquieteth himself in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

What, then, O Lord, is my hope? My hope is in thee.

Deliver me from all my unrighteousness: make me not the reproach of the impious. I am dumb, I open not my mouth; because thou hast done it. Remove thy stroke away from me: I perish by the blow of thine hand. When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, tbou consumest his beauty like a moth: surely every man is vanity.

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

O, spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.

BRIEF life is here our portion,

Brief sorrow, short-lived care;
The life that knows no ending,
The tearless life is there.
Reward of grace how wondrous!
Short toil eternal rest!
Oh, miracle of mercy!

That we should be so blest!

LORD most high, with thy whole Church throughout the world we especially give thanks to thee for all thy saints departed; and for the hope of future joy in the resurrection of the just. Oh, let the cloud of witnesses, the innumerable company of those who have gone before and entered into rest, be to us an example of godly life; even now may we rejoice in their happiness; and with patience may we so run the race that is set before us, as to have an entrance administered abundantly into thy heavenly presence, to be united with them and the Lord Jesus

Christ.

Amen.

Go

OD be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us;

That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.

Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth.

Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

WE

O YE of fearful hearts, be strong!

Your downcast eyes and hands lift up,
Doubt not, nor cry, "O God, how long!"
Hope to the end, in patience hope!
Oh, never from your faith remove;
Ye cannot fail, for God is love!

Lord, we have faith; we wait the hour
Which to the earth thy kingdom brings;
When thou, in love and joy and power,

Shalt come and make us priests and kings;
When man shall be indeed thy son,

And thy pure will on earth be done.

E do not presume to come to the table of thy daily bounty, O merciful Father, trusting in our own. righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for our past sins. But, O Lord God, thy mercy endureth for ever. Grant us therefore so to partake of the blessings of thy good providence, that by faith in thee our souls may be purified from all evil, and that we may evermore dwell in thee, and thy Holy Spirit may dwell in us.

Amen.

UT after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:

But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath: Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that doeth evil; of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good; to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

For there is no respect of persons with God.

LMIGHTY and most merciful God, we thank thee

that in thine own good time thou didst send thy beloved Son to proclaim thy truth and will, to publish good tidings of great joy to all souls, and to seek the wandering and lead them home. Filled with thy Spirit, he reconciles thy rebellious children to thy most holy law. Permitted as we are to know his gospel, and to feel the inspiration of his blessed life, may we have grace so to follow in his footsteps that our hearts may be purified and regenerate, and may be freed from the power of sin and death. Hasten the time, O God, when before thy majesty every knee shall bow, and every heart confess thee to be the King eternal. Amen.

TAR

AKE heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

GRACIOUS Spirit, dwell with me;
I myself would gracious be,

And, with words that help and heal,
Would thy life in mine reveal;
And with actions bold and meek
Christ's own gracious spirit speak.
Truthful Spirit, dwell with me;
I myself would truthful be,
And with wisdom kind and clear
Let thy life in mine appear;
And with actions brotherly
Follow Christ's sincerity.

Tender Spirit, dwell with me;
I myself would tender be;
Shut my heart up like a flower
At temptation's darksome hour;
Open it when shines the sun,

And his love by fragrance own.

GOD, who givest us the day for labor, and the night for rest grant, we beseech thee, that this day may be profitable to us in heavenly things, and refresh and strengthen us to finish the work which thou hast given us to do. O blessed God, who neither slumberest nor sleepest, take us into thy gracious keeping for the coming night; and make us mindful of that night when the noise of this busy world shall be heard by us no more. O Lord in whom

we trust, help us by thy grace so to live that we may never be afraid to die, and grant that at the last our even-song may be: I will lay me down in peace and sleep, for thou, Lord, makest me dwell in safety. Amen.

"REATE in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

O Lord, open thou my lips, and my mouth shall show forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it thou delightest not in burnt-offering.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

FATHER, to us thy children, humbly kneeling,
Conscious of weakness, ignorance, sin, and shame,
Give such a force of holy thought and feeling,
That we may live to glorify thy name :

That we may conquer base desire and passion,
That we may rise from selfish thought and will,
O'ercome the world's allurement, threat, and fashion,
Walk humbly, gently, leaning on thee still.

Let all thy goodness by our minds be seen,
Let all thy mercy on our souls be sealed,

Lord, if thou wilt, thy power can make us clean,

WE

Oh, speak the word! thy servants shall be healed.

E bless thee, O God, for this new day and for all thy bounties that enrich it. For the inspiration with which thou seekest the souls of thy children of every age and clime we thank thee; for the gift of the good and wise and faithful ones that have blessed the world and made it better; for the blessing of thy chosen ones who have taught us of heaven and thee; for every throb of gladness that thrills our being; for the joys which kindle our gratitude; for the warnings of conscience and the remorse that turns us from sin; for all thy myriad gifts, and most of all for the dearest joy of all, that with mind and heart we may know that thou art good, and love and serve thee for ever, as our Father and best Friend, in time and eternity. Amen.
