not you a sinner, then why not to save you? Do you fear? On what ground? What are your sins to the merits of Jesus? What are your sins to the grace of God? Think of those precious words, "Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound." Why should you be excluded from Jesus ? Why should you be refused salvation by his blood? But you cannot be, if willing to be saved by Jesus, that is the evidence that he came to save you, for you never would have been willing, if his Spirit had not made you 80. Jesus is willing to save, all who are willing to be saved by him, therefore troubled spirit, he is willing to save you.

HARK! how the gospel trumpet sounds,
Christ and free grace therein abounds:
Free grace to such as sinners be!
And if free grace, why not for me?

The Saviour died, and by his blood
Brought rebel sinners near to God:
He died to set the captives free;
And why, my soul, why not for thee?

Eternal life by Christ is given,
And ruined rebels raised to heaven:
Then sing of grace so rich and free;
And say, my soul, why not for thee?

THE STRIKING CONTRAST.

THE BLESSED CHARACTERS.

BLESS'D are the Men that feel their ruin'd state,
And have been led by grace their sins to hate;
Who know the Saviour and his pard'ning blood,
Who live in peace and fellowship with God.
Cloth'd in the righteousness of Christ their Lord,
Led by his Spirit, guided by his word;
They live upon his fulness day by day,

And draw sweet comfort from him when they pray.
They're born of God by a celestial birth,
And are distinguish'd from the sons of earth
They live a life of faith, and walk with God
In Zion's holy, heavenly, happy road.
They're blest of God before the world began
In Christ the Lord, and blest they must remain:
Nor can a curse alight upon their head,
For Christ was cursed in their room and stead.
Blest with eternal life, and freely given
To have a right and title unto heaven;
They find supplies provided on the road,
By Jesus purchas'd and by Grace bestow'd.
They now surrounded are by many foes,
But full deliverance waits them at the close;
Each one shall triumph, through the Saviour's blood,
And victory shout in Jordan's swelling flood,
Blest in their state, they're happy in their God,
Blest in experience with all real good;

Blest in their prospects, O how bright they rise,
To bless their souls and feast their ravish'd eyes.

Blest by the Father, in eternal love!

Blest by the Son, they his redemption prove;
Blest by the Spirit with a name and place
Among the tribes redeem'd and sav'd by grace;
They're blest in life, and as it glides away,
It wafts them on to everlasting day.

They're blest in death, which opens to their eyes
Their bright celestial mansions in the skies.
'Tis true they are despised here below,
Through Baca and through Mesech they must go;
Poor and afflicted, tried and tempest-tost,
But every one will safe be hous'd at last.
Their foes may seem to triumph for a while,
And they oppress'd be doom'd to bitter toil;
Yet but a little and then they will see,
Jehovah Jesus sets the prisoners free.

They're blest, and none can on them bring a curse,
And to attempt it nothing can be worse;
For God hath said "the man that curseth thee,
He cursed is, and shall accursed be."

O happy people! Blessed by the Lord!
Who can be like, or unto thee compar'd?
May I in life, in death, and ever be,

Bles'd with the blessings God hath blessed thee.

THE CURSED CHARACTERS.

CURS'D is the man that breaks Jehovah's Law,
That lives in sin without concern or awe :-
The book of God this solemn truth will shew,
Such souls are curs'd in all they say or do.
Curs'd in the party where the glass goes round,
Curs'd at the cards when at the same they're found.
Curs'd at the Ball-room, where the Music sweet,
Invites the gay and giddy souls to meet:
Curs'd in the Parlour, cursed at the Play,
Curs'd in the fields, and curs'd on the highway.
Curs'd in the House of God, and curs'd at Home,
Curs'd at their rest, and when abroad they roam.
O solemn thought! and does the curse of God,
Attend the sinner in his thoughtless road;
And must it ONE DAY burst upon his soul,
And sink him down where flaming billows roll?
And am I curs'd and doom'd in hell to dwell,
Where fiery demons God's just vengeance feel?
Won't gold or silver, pray'rs, or briny tears,
Save and deliver me from all my fears?
No! prayers nor repentance, no salvation give;
Christ is the Saviour, you must him receive.
Without him, all you have avails you nought,
Your very best things are not worth a thought;
'Tis interest in him saves the soul from death,
'Tis union to him gives true praying breath:
'Tis Gdo the Spirit forms him in the heart,
And makes us from the ways of sin depart,
Regenerating grace you must receive,
Before you can in Jesus' name believe;
True Gospel faith must in your soul be wrought,
Before you can be to repentance brought;

And when the Spirit hath form'd Christ within,
Then will you leave the hateful ways of sin,
Live on the Saviour's blood and righteousness,
And seek salvation by free sovereign grace.
In Christ you'll be from condemnation free,
The curse of God will be remov'd from thee;
His blessings will in copious show'rs descend,
And Christ will prove himself your constant friend.
To walk with Jesus will be your delight,

You'll seek communion with him day and night;
His courts attend, his ordinances prize,
And search his Word whoever may despise.
No more the ball, the cards, the play will move,
Their charms will fade before the Saviour's love;
To talk of Jesus will be your employ,

To meet his people yield you heartfelt joy,
O may the blessed SPIRIT by his power,
Give you to feel, and your sad state deplore,
Lead you to Jesus, give you pardon sweet,
And grant that we may in his glory meet.
