a mile from Wrington all the gentlemen of the neighbourhood met the procession; and for the last half mile the road on each side was lined with villagers, chiefly in black, scarcely one without a riband. At the entrance of the village, charity children, amounting to more than two hundred, with a great number of the clergy in their gowns, headed the procession. Her remains lie near the grave of Locke. On the Sunday following a sermon, commemorating the virtues of the deceased, was preached at Wrington, by the Rev. Henry Thompson, M.A., of St. John's College, Cambridge, and Curate of that parish.
