dents of the first class have bound themselves to raise and pay, if practicable, in five years, the sums which they have respectively subscribed, amounting in the whole to about $7000. And the Students of the third class have, on similar conditions, individually bound themselves in sums, amounting collectively to about $4000.

The Board would further report, that at their late meeting they received from the executors of the late Dr. Elias Boudinot, an extract from his last Will and Testament, from which it appears, that he has bequeathed to the Seminary the greater part of his library, and the sum of $5000 in money, after the decease of his daughter; and that he has also devised a tract of about 4000 acres of land, lying in Luzerne county, Pennsylvania. In consequence of this communication the Board passed the following resolution, viz:

RESOLVED, That it be recommended to the General Assembly to order, that whenever the sum of $5000, shall have been received from the Executors of the late Dr. Boudinot, two Scholarships shall be founded with said sum, under the names of the Boudinot and Bradford Scholarships; and that whenever the requisite sum for the establishment of one or more Scholarship or Scholarships, from the sale or profits of the land devised for the use of this Seminary be received, that the said Scholarship or Scholarships, shall be established under such names as Mrs. Susan V. Bradford shall suggest."

The Board further report, that since the meeting of the last Assembly, the Rev. Ebenezer Grant, a Director of the Seminary, has departed this life. Two years of the term for which he was elected, yet remain. The Assembly will of course elect a Director to supply his place.

Eight Scholarships have been founded, viz:

1. The Le Roy Scholarship, Both founded by Mrs. Martha Le Roy, New 2. The Banyer Scholarship, S York.

3. The Lenox Scholarship, founded by Robert Lenox, Esq. of New York. 4. The Whitehead Scholarship, founded by John Whitehead, Esq. of Burke county, Georgia.

5. The Charleston Female Scholarship, founded by the Congregational and Presbyterian Female Association of Charleston, S. C. for assisting in the education of pious youth for the gospel ministry.

The endowment of three Professorships has been commenced, viz. One by the Synod of Philadelphia, one by the Synod of New York and NewJersey, and one by the Synods of North Carolina, and South Carolina and Georgia.

Missionary Appointments for 1822, by the Board of Missions.

The following Missionary Appointments were made, and the following Presbyteries authorized to employ missionaries on missionary ground.

1. Mr. James M. Olmstead, for four months, in the counties of Warren, Essex, Clinton and Franklin, New York.

2. Rev. Miles P. Squier, for six weeks, in the neighbourhood of Buffalo, New York.

3. The Presbytery of North River to employ a missionary, one month; and 4. The Presbytery of Hudson, another, for one month, on missionary ground within their respective limits.

5. The Rev. Charles Webster, for three months, on missionary ground, in the vicinity of the congregation of Helmstead, Long Island.

6. Rev. Benjamin Ögden, for three months, in Bucks county, Pennsyl

vania.

7. Mr. Nathaniel Conkling, for three months, under the direction of the Presbytery of Newton.

8. Rev. Matthew Harrision, for three months, in Chatauque, New York, and Erie county, Pennsylvania. He will receive half his compensation from the societies within the bounds of the Presbytery of Erie.

9. The Board to send several missionaries into the bounds of the Presbytery of Erie, where they are assured the expense of the missions will be contributed by vacant congregations.

10. Rev. Garner A. Hunt, for two months, in the counties of Wayne and Luzerne, Pennsylvania.

11. Rev. Salmon King, for two months, in Susquehannah county, Pennsylvania.

12. Mr. Beach, for two months, in Luzerne county, Pennsylvania. He will receive half his compensation from the Female Domestic Missionary Society of Luzerne county.

13. Mr.John M. Babbitt, for three months, in Luzerne county. He will receive half his compensation from the Female Domestic Missionary Society of Luzerne county.

14. Mr. William R. Smith, for three months, on his former route.

15. Rev. Alexander Cook, for two months, in the counties of Armstrong and Venango, Pennsylvania.

16. Rev. Clement Vallandigham, in the destitute parts of Columbiana, Starke and Wayne counties, Ohio.

17. Rev. James Snodgrass, for one month in Wayne, Richland, and Seneca counties, Ohio.

18. Rev. John Ross, for three months, in the western part of Ohio, and the eastern part of Indiana.

19. Mr. James M. Olmstead, for six months, under the direction of the Board of Trust, of the Western Missionary Society. He will receive his compensation from that Board.

20. Mr. Samuel H. Doak, for two months, on missionary ground, within the bounds of the Abingdon Presbytery.

21. The Board to appoint a missionary, for six months, in Suffolk and Smithfield, Virginia. He will receive his compensation from the Auxiliary Society of Hanover Presbytery.

22. Mr. William Henderson, for three months, between the Virginia line, and Kentucky River; and three months, in Pulaski and Wayne counties, in the state of Kentucky.

23. Mr. Joshua L. Moore, for six months, at Detroit, if there should be an opening; and if otherwise, then in destitute places in Michigan territory. 24. Mr. Isaac Bard, for four months, in the bounds of the Presbytery of Muhlenberg; under the direction of the Auxiliary Missionary Society of that Presbytery, from whom he will receive half of his compensation.

25. Mr. James L. Marshall, for three months, in Kentucky, in the bounds of the Louisville Presbytery, and six months, in Indiana, in the region visited by Messrs. Barton and Platt.

26. Rev. John Lyle, for three months, in the bounds of the Presbytery of Ebenezer, at discretion.

27. Mr. Robert A. Lapsley, for six months, in the bounds of the Presbytery of Muhlenberg, under the direction of the Auxiliary Society of that Presbytery, from whom he will receive half of his compensation.

28. Mr. Alexander M'Caudless, for four months, in Indiana, chiefly in Indianapolis and vicinity; where it is expected he will receive the principal part of his compensation.

29. Mr. George M. Erskine, for two months, under the direction of the Missionary Society of East Tennessee.

30. Rev. Colin M'Iver, for two months, on missionary ground in the limits of the Presbytery of West Tennessee.

31. The Board to send a missionary for six months, in West Tennessee. 32. Mr. Thomas C. Kennedy, for six months, in North Carolina; and for four months, on both sides of the line between Indiana and Illinois.

33. Rev. John H. Vancourt, for six months, in any of the counties in Georgia, where missionary societies have been formed, who may need a missionary, and are willing to defray the expense of the mission.

34. Mr. James B. Stafford, for three months, in Alabama.

35. Mr, Joseph P. Cunningham, for three months, in Alabama.

36. The Board to send a missionary or missionaries, to labour under the direction of the Missionary Society of the Mississippi Presbytery, from whom they will receive their compensation.

37. Mr. Thomas Alexander, for six months, in Missouri State.

38. Mr. Abraham Williamson, for six months, in Illinois, at discretion. 39. Rev. William H. Stuart, for two months, in Illinois.

Of Monies contributed by the churches under the care of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America, as reported at its session in May 1822. Subjoined to each Presbytery is the amount actually received by the Treasurer of the Trustees of the General Assembly for the Missionary and Commissioners' Funds, and the congregational collections for the contingent fund of the Theological Seminary, when it could be ascertained to which Presbytery the contributing congregation belonged. If any of them are not in the Presbyterial reports, they will be found in the account of the contingent fund of the Theological Seminary. No part of the education fund is paid into his hands, except when it is appropriated to the education of students in the Seminary.
