D., are adopted as the standard text, with only occasional changes in favor of the Common Version. The writer has borrowed freely from "Christian Liturgy," by F. H. Hedge, D. D., "Book of Worship," by J. F. Clarke, D. D., "Common Prayer," by James Martineau, D. D.; while he has endeavored to incorporate something of the thought and spirit contained in "The Rod and Staff," and "Prayers," by Theodore Parker, availing himself of any "Scripture given by inspiration."
