Remember, in mercy, all who are afflicted, and grant that the afflictions of the body may end in the salvation of the soul. If they live, may it be to serve thee; and, if they die, may it be to enjoy thy presence for ever. Regard the fatherless and widow with compassion, that they may find mercy with thee. Grant that the young may be led early to seek thee, and may the old begin to call upon thee, that they perish not.

O Lord, and heavenly Father, while we are supplicating thy mercies, we would not forget to bless thee for the favours we enjoy. We thank thee for all our temporal blessings, but above all for thy

redeeming grace and mercy. Thou, O blessed Jesus, hast died that we might live, and hast opened a way for us into the holiest of holies by thy own blood. Praised be thy

name, that thou hast spared us amidst our transgressions, and art still saying; return unto me, for I have redeemed thee." Thou art inviting us to come unto thee, and hast promised that thou wilt in no wise cast us out. Praise the Lord, O our souls, and all that is within us, praise his holy name.

We commend ourselves to thy holy keeping during this night. May we lie down and awake under a sense of thy presence, and in the enjoyment of thy favour. Grant

that we may daily grow in meetness for thy kingdom and glory; till we sleep in Jesus, and awake to a blissful immortality. BLESSED Lord God, who art great in counsel and mighty in working, whose eyes behold the children of men, to give to every one according to his works; enable us to draw near to thee in the name of Christ, and in the spirit of prayer. Grant us unfeigned repentance for all our sins, and grace to live hereafter to thy glory.

Accept our thanks, merciful Lord, for the continuation of all thy

blessings. Thou hast refreshed us with rest, and hast permitted us to see the beginning of another day, and to assemble before thee. Many, since we parted for the night, have passed into eternity, but we are the living to praise thee. Many are now laid upon beds of sickness, and afflicted with pain, but we are in the possession of health and peace. It is thou, O Lord, who suppliest all our wants, and givest all our blessings. Thou hast also caused thy spiritual favours to abound towards us, through Christ Jesus. Pardon and peace are proclaimed to us, guilty sinners, through his name; and we
