Saul called to the apostleship. they were men cr women, he might bring them 3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus; 24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saythe Lord for me, that none of these things which yeing unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? have spoken come upon me. 25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samari tans. 26 1 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south, unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6 And he, trembling and astonished, said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of? himself, or of some other man? 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all Mark 16, thy heart, thou mayest. CHAPTER IX.. 9 And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. 101 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias: and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. 11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go deh. 21. into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, 12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. 13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard everses 1, by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: 14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. 21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said, chap. 1. 1 Saul, going towards Damascus, is called by Christ: 10 Ana- confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, Christ. 23 ¶ And after that many days were fulfilled, the ND Saul yet breathing out threatenings and Jews took counsel to kill him. ver. 18, 21. went unto the high priest, I Cor. 15, 9. THE ACTS. 25" And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they nch. 22, 17. Were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was Gal. 1, 17. a disciple. 27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. 28 And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem. 29 And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him: 30 Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Cesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus. o chap. 8, 1. 31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied. And he arose immediately. 35 And all that dwelt in Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord. 361 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and alms-deeds which she did. 37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. 38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. 39 Then Peter arose, and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper cham-} ber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled: down, and prayed: and turning him to the body, said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up: and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 And it was known throughout all Joppa: and many believed in the Lord. 43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa, with one Simon a tanner. Cornelius sendeth for him. 11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain ves- geh. 11, & sel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet, knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth; 12 Wherein were all manner of four-footed beasts. of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never Ezek. 4,14 eaten any thing that is common or unclean. 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. 17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, 11. Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. 20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go 1 ch 15,7. with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. 21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius, and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? n m ver. 2, 3, 5. & 23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. ch. 9,42 And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and 11, 19 certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him. 24° And the morrow after they entered into Ce- overse 27. area. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. 27 1And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. 28 And there stood up one of them, named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cesar. 29 'Then the disciples, every man according to his Rom. 15,25. ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren 2 Cor. 84. And he departed, and went into another place. 18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. 19 And when Herod had sought for him, and' found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus: 7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. 8' But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name (Ex. 7 1. by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. 9 Then Saul (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, 10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon Paul preacheth at Antioch.
