And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business ? Luke iv. 49. Καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ορα μηδενί μηδὲν εἴπῃς· ἀλλ ̓ ὕπαγε, σεαυτὸν δεῖξον τῷ ἱερεῖ, καὶ προσένεγκε περὶ τοῦ καθαρισμού σου ἃ προσέταξε Μωσῆς, εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς.

And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man, but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. VER. 45.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

Τί οὗτος οὕτω λαλεῖ βλασφημίας; τίς δύναται ἀφιέναι ἁμαρτίας, εἰ μὴ εἷς ὁ Θεός ;

Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? a who can forgive sins but God only?

a But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared, Psal. cxxx. 4. I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins, Isa. xliii. 25. To the LORD our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him, Dan. ix. 9. Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage ? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy, Mic. vii. 18. And the Scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone ? Luke v. 21.

Σοὶ λέγω, ἔγειραι, καὶ ἄρον τὸν κράβ βατόν σου, καὶ ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου.

I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. VER. 12.

Καὶ ἠγέρθη εὐθέως, καὶ ἄρας τὸν κράβ βατον ἐξῆλθεν ἐναντίον πάντων· ὥστε ἐξί στασθαι πάντας, καὶ δοξάζειν τὸν Θεὸν, λέγοντας· Οτι οὐδέποτε οὕτως εἴδομεν.

And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, we never saw it on this fashion.

Καὶ ἐξῆλθε πάλιν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ πᾶς ὁ ὄχλος ἤρχετο πρὸς αὐτὸν, καὶ | ἐδίδασκεν αὐτούς.

And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.

And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?

VER. 26.

Πῶς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἐπὶ ̓Αβιάθας τοῦ ἀρχιερέως, καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως ἔφαγεν, οὓς οὐκ ἔξεστι φας γεῖν εἰ μὴ τοῖς ἱερεῦσι, καὶ ἔδωκε καὶ τοῖς σὺν αὐτῷ οὖσι;

How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the High Priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the Priests, and gave also to them which were with him ? VER. 27.

Καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Τὸ σάββατον διὰ τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐγένετο, οὐχ ὁ ἄνθρωπος διὰ τὸ σάββατον·

And he said unto them, a the sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

a Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed, Exod. xxiii. 12. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant, and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou, Deut. v. 14. Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them, Ezek. xx. 12. If a man on the subbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses shall not be broken ; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? John vii. 23.

a And he saith unto them, Is it lawful evil? to save life or to kill? But they to do good on the sabbath days, or to do held their peace.

a Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it? Luke vi. 9. And Jesus answering spake unto the Lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? xiv. 3.

συλλυπούμενος ἐπὶ τῇ πωρώσει τῆς καρδίας Καὶ περιβλεψάμενος αὐτοὺς μετ ̓ ὀργῆς, αὐτῶν, λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ· Εκτεινον τὴν χεῖρά σου· καὶ ἐξέτεινε καὶ ἀποκατεστάθη ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ ὑγιὴς ὡς ἡ ἄλλη.

And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for cthe hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaa, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.

They have not known nor understood : for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, And the Pharisees went forth, and that they cannot understand, Isa. xliv. 18. And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway. I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy, Rom. xi. 7-11. For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in, 25. But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is their heart. Nevertheless when upon it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away, 2 Cor. iii. 1416. Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart, Eph. iv. 18.

VER. 9.

Καὶ εἶπε τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ, ἵνα πλοιάριον προσκαρτερῇ αὐτῷ, διὰ τὸν ὄχλον, ἵνα μὴ θλίβωσιν αὐτόν.

And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.

VER. 10.

Πολλοὺς γὰς ἐθεράπευσεν, ὥστε ἐπι πίπτειν αὐτῷ, ἵνα αὐτοῦ ἅψωνται, ὅσοι exov μáorIYAÇ.

For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.

Καὶ τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα, ὅταν αὐτὸν ἐθεώρει, προσέπιπτεν αὐτῷ, καὶ έκραζε, λέγοντα· Ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ

Θεοῦ.

And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
