MATTHEW X.

1 And when he had called

MARK VI.

shod with sandals; and put

unto him his twelve disciples, 10 not on two coats. And he

he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying; Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter 6 ye not. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house 7 of Israel. And, as ye go, preach, saying; The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils; freely ye have received, freely give. • Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass, in your purses; 10 nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet a staff. For the workman is worthy of 11 his meat. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide 12 till ye go thence. And when ye come into a house, salute 13 it. And if the house be

worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it be not worthy, let your peace re14 turn to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

said unto them; in what place soever ye enter into a house, there abide till ye depart from that place. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them.

neither money; neither have 4 two coats a piece. And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence 5 depart. And whosoever

will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet, for a testimony against them.

MATTHEW X.

15 Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that 16 city. Behold I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as 17 doves. But beware of men. For they will deliver you up

to councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; 18 and ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that same hour 20 what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the 21 Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child; and the children shall rise up against their 22 parents, and cause them to be put to death; and ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But he that 23 endureth to the end shall be saved. But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another; and if they persecute you out of this, flee ye into another. For verily I say unto you, ye shall not have gone over the cities of 24 Israel till the Son of man be come. The disciple is not 25 above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is

enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the Master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his 26 household? Fear them not therefore. For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid that shall 27 not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in the light; and what ye hear in the ear, that preach 28 ye upon the house-tops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them 30 shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the 31 very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not

therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will 33 I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But

whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny 34 before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth; I came not to send peace, but 35 a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the

36 daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's foes 37 shall be they of his own houeshold. He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of 38 me; and he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after 39 me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life, shall lose

it; and he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it. 40 He that receiveth you, receiveth me; and he that receiveth 41 me, receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet, in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man, in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

MARK VI.

12 And they went out, and preached that men should 13 repent; and they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick,

and healed them.

LUKE IX.

6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing every where.

And it came to pass, when 18 And the disciples of John

Jesus had made an end of
commanding his twelve dis-19
ciples, he departed thence,
to teach and to preach in
their cities.

Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of 3 his disciples, and said unto him; Art thou he that should come, or do we look 4 for another? Jesus answered and said unto them; Go 2 and shew John again those things which ye do hear and 5 see; the blind receive the r sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them; 6 and blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in And, as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concern- 23 ing John; What went ye out into the wilderness to see? a reed shaken with the 24 8 wind? But what went ye out for to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft clothing 9 are in king's houses. But what went ye out for to see? a prophet? shewed him of all these things. And John, calling unto him two of his disciples, sent them unto Jesus, saying; Art thou he that should come, or look we for another? When the

men were come unto him, they said; John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying; Art thou he that should come, or look we for another? And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities, and plagues, and of evil spirits, and unto many that were blind he gave sight. Then Jesus answering, said unto them; Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John; What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? a reed shaken with the 25 wind? But what went ye

out for to see? a man clothed
