And other fell on good ground, and fprang up, and bare fruit an hundred fold. And when he had faid these things, he cried, (b) He that hath ears to ear, let him hear. it is given to know the myfteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that (c) feeing they might not fee, and hearing they might not unI derftand. Now the parable is this: The feed is 12 the word of God. Thofe by the way-fide, are they that hear then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, left they should believe and be faved. They on the rock, are they, which when they hear, receive the word with joy; and thefe have no root, which for a while believe, and 14 in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns, are they, which when they have heard, go forth and are choked with cares and riches, and pleafures of this life, and bring no fruit 15 to perfection. But that on the good ground, are they, which in an honeft and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

(d) As every thing in common life is to be put to its proper use, fo is my doctrine, which I have now explained, that you may profit the better by it. For the ule of hearing and reading the word of God is to improve by what we learn; and if our hearts and livesbe not improved thereby, we fhall be condemned for neglecting the opportunities which God is pleafed to afford us for that purpose.

But as they failed, he fell asleep and there came down a storm of wind on the lake, and they were filled with water, 24 and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, faying, Mafter, mafter, we perifh. Then he arofe, and rebuked the wind, and the raging of the water and they ceafed, and there 25 was a calm. And he faid unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid, wondered, faying one to another, What manner of man is this? for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

,26 And they arrived at the country of the Gada27 renes, which is over against Galilee. And when he went forth to land, there met him out of of the city, a certain man which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any houfe,

28 but in the tombs. When he faw Jefus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice faid, What have I to do with thee, Jefus, thou fon of God moft High? I beseech thee tor29 ment me not. (For he had commanded the unclean fpirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him and he was kept bound with chains, and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) And Jefus hafked afked him,

becaufe many devils were entered into him. And they befought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep. And there was there an herd of many fwine feeding on the mountain and they befought him that he would fuffer them to enter into (b) them. And he suffered 22 the man, and them. 39 but Jefus fent him away, faying, Return to thine own houfe, and fhew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and publifhed throughout the whole city, how great things 40 Jefus had done unto him. And it came to pass, that when Jefus was returned, the people gladly received him for they were all waiting for him. 41 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the fynagogue; and he fell down at Jefus' feet, and befought him that he 42 would come into his houfe: For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and fhe lay a dying. (But as he went, the people thronged him.

And a woman having an iflue of blood twelve years, which had fpent all her (k) living upon phy44 ficians, neither could be healed of any, Came beHind him, and touched the border of his garment: 45 and immediately her iffue of blood ftanched." And Jefus faid, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter, and they that were with him, faid, Mafter, the multitude throng thee, and prefs thee, and fayeft 46 thou, Who touched me? And Jefus faid, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman faw that fhe was not hid, fhe came trembling, and falling down before him, fhe declared unto him before all the people, for what cause he had touched him, 48 and how fhe was healed immediately. And he faid unto her, Daughter, be of good (1) comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.)

While he yet fpake, there cometh one from the ruler of the fynagogue's houfe, faying to him, Thy 50 daughter is dead; trouble not the Mafter.

1 THEN he called his twelve difciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, 2 and to cure difeafes. And he fent them to preach (a) the kingdom of God, and to heal the fick. 3 And he faid unto them, Take nothing for your (b) -journey, neither ftaves, nor fcrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. 4 And whatsoever houfe ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. And whofoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, fhake off the very duft from your feet for a teftimony against 6 them, And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gofpel, and healing every where.
