PAUL TO THE CORINTHIANS. I.

CHAP. XIII. Excellence of Charity. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of propbecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I beston all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind ; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Charity never faileth : but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease ; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child : but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass darkly ; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Chap. XV. Resurrection of Christ and of Man.

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all athority and power. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die : 37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh : but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial : but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars : for one star differeth from another star in gloTy. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption ; it is raised in incorruption : 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory : it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power : 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual bodr. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual bods. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy : the second man is the Lord from heaven. '49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bex the image of the heavenly. 51 Behold I shen you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorrup. tion, and this mortal shall have put on immortality. then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 0 death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is iby victory ? 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord ; forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord

I THEREFORE, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are

sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive ; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ; 30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice : 32 And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving
