CHAPTER VIII.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now a Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, b let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the wo man standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And

49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but 1 honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

CHAPTER X.

1 Christ is the door, and the good shepherd: 25 he proveth by his works that he is Christ.

2 But he that entereth in by the b door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him c the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice and he calleth d his own sheep by name, and leadethe them out.

4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.f

5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will fleeg from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.

7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: Iam come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

11 Ii am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whoso own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leavethk the sheep, and fleeth and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

13 Tho hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

14 I am the good shepherd, and ? know my sheep, and am known m of mine.

15 Asn the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and o I lay down my life for the sheep.

16 And p other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and q there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because r I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18 No man taketh it from me, buts I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and It have power to take it again. This u commandment have I received of my Father.
