CHAP. I. Jehoiakim's captivity. 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile liimself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore, he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

8 The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

10 Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image:

11 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

CHAP. IV.

Nebuchadnezzar's dream.

shazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered, and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
