the day of my distress, and wast with me in the way which I went (d). : O Lord, thou hast pleaded the cause of my soul: thou hast redeemed my life(e). Thou hast shewed unto thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might (f).

Wherewith, then, shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God (g)? And what thanks can I render to him (h), for having saved my life by this great deliverance (i)? I will bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ(j), giving thanks in his name (k); for he

is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my shield, and the horn of my salvation; my high tower, my refuge, and my Saviour ().

FOR THE SABBATH.

Ye shall keep my Sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary. Lev. xix. 30.

O LORD, our Governor, how excellent is thy name in all the world! thou that hast set thy glory above the heavens (a). This is the day which thou hast made; I will rejoice, and be glad in it (b). I will turn away my foot from doing my pleasure on thy holy day, and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord,

honourable; and will honour thee, not doing mine own ways, nor finding mine own pleasure, nor speaking mine own words(c). I will enter into thy gates with thanksgiving, and into thy courts with praise(d): I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy, and in thy fear will I worship towards thy holy temple (e). I will bow down and kneel before the Lord, my Maker(f): in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee (g); I will lift up my hands in thy name (h): I will pay my vows before them that fear thee (i).

But who am I, that I should be able to offer so willingly after this sort! for

all things come of thee, and of thine own must we give thee (j). In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast no pleasure (k); but thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness (1): for although thou dwellest in the high and holy place (m), yet is thy tabernacle with men, and thou wilt dwell with them (n); with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit(o).

Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth (p): thy words are sweet unto my taste, yea, sweeter than honey unto my mouth! O how I love thy law! it is my meditation all the

day: it is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Accept, I beseech thee, the free-will offerings of my mouth, O Lord, and teach me thy judgments (q): so shall I come boldly unto the throne of grace, that I may obtain mercy, and find to help in time of need (r).
