PREFACE.

THE author of these prayers had been recently calling the attention of his parishioners to the important duty of family worship, and to encourage those of them who had neglected the duty of family prayer, he desired to put into their hands, a short manual of devotion. He also thought it might prove a useful supplement to those already in use among his parishioners.

Plainness and simplicity have been studied in the composition, and scriptural language has been generally adopted, with frequent quotations from our sublime, and all but inspired Liturgy.

THE prayers of the first week in this edition have been shortened, having been felt too long. A second week of prayers has also been added to the former.
