for they are great; and cleanse and purify our hearts.

Keep us, gracious God, this day without sin. Preserve us from the snares and enticements of the world. We are sore let and hindered by them. May we be willing to take up our cross, and follow Christ; and in all our sufferings here may we steadfastly look up to heaven, and behold the glory that shall be revealed. May Thy grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us. Thou knowest, Lord, that we have pledged ourselves to renounce the world and all its vanities: strengthen us to do so.

Enable us to live in peace one with another. And, O Thou who art the Prince of Peace, keep us from envy, malice, and all uncharitableness. Give us grace seriously to lay to heart the great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions. Take away from us all hatred and prejudice, and whatever else may hinder us from godly union and concord;

that, as there is but one body and one spirit, and one hope of our calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, so we may henceforth be all of one heart and of one soul, united in one holy bond of truth and peace, of faith and charity, and may with one mind and one mouth glorify Thee.

Give us unselfish and feeling hearts. Lord, make us kind to all around us. May we bear one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Look in mercy upon our brethren, who are at this time in poverty or want. Be the Father of the fatherless, and the God of the widow. Of Thy great goodness, O Lord, comfort and succour all them who in this transitory life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity. Give them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions, Holy Saviour, may we in all things follow Thy blessed example, and grow daily

more like unto Thee.

And now we pray Thee to accept this our morning sacrifice of prayer and praise.

And as Thou hast promised that where two or three are gathered together in Thy name, Thou wilt be in the midst of us, fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of Thy servants, and hear these our prayers, which we conclude in the words which Thou Thyself hast taught us

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil for Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst us, and remain with us always. Amen.

Huesday Evening.

ALMIGHTY GOD, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid, who knowest also our necessities before we ask, and our ignorance in asking, pour out upon us this evening the abundance of Thy mercy. Open the windows of heaven, and shower down a blessing upon us. Our wants are great, but the stores of Thy bounty are greater. Lord, enable us to ask in faith, nothing wavering. Enable us to come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

We beseech Thee to awaken in us a spirit of thankfulness. Open Thou our hearts and lips this evening; and our

mouths shall show forth Thy praise. We feel, O Lord, that our mercies are greater, far greater, than we deserve. Thou hast not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. Like as a father pitieth his children, so hast Thou been full of pity and compassion towards us. For all Thy goodness we offer up our grateful thanks. With angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Thy glorious name, evermore praising Thee, and saying, 'Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts; heaven and earth are full of Thy glory; glory be to Thee, O Lord most high.'

Preserve us, O God, from the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil. And because the frailty of man without Thee cannot but fall, keep us, we beseech Thee, from all things hurtful, and lead us to all things profitable to our salvation. We have no strength of our own: let Thy strength be made perfect in
