CHAP. XXXII.

And when the people faw

alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may confume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

II And Mofes befought the LORD his God, and faid,LORD,why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou har brought forth our of the land of Egypt, with great power, and with a mighty hand?

13 Remember Abraham, Ifaac, and Ifrael thy fer vants, to whom thou fwa reft by thi ne own felf, and faideft unto them, I will multiply your feed as the ftars of heaven, & all this land that I havefpoken of, will I give unto your feed, and they fhall inherit it for ever

14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

15 And Mofes turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the reftimony were in bis hand the rables were written on both theirfides; on the one fide and on the Other were they written.

16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of Godgraven upon the rables 17 And when Joshua heard the noife of the people as they shouted, he said unto Mofes, There is a noife of war in the camp.

18 And he fald, It is not the voice of them that hout for maftery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noife of them that fing do I hear.

22 And Aaron fald, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot; thou knoweft the people that they are fet on mifchief.

23 For they faid unto me, Make us gods, which hall go before us for a for this Mofes, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wor not whar is become of him.

24 And I faldunro them, Whofoever hath any gold, let then break ir en fo they gave it me: the t caftit into the fire, and there came out this calf. 25 And when Mofes faw that the people were naked (for Aaron had made them naked unto their fhame, a. mongst their enemies)

26 Then Mofes flood in the gate of the camp, and faid, Who is on the Lords fide? let bim come unto me. And all the fons of Levi gathered themfelves to gether unto him. 27 And he faid unto them, Thus faith the Lord GOD of Ifrael, Pur every man his (word by his fide, and go in and out from gare to gare throughout the camp, & flay every man his bro ther, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.

2S And the children of Levi did according to the word of Mofes and there fell of the people that day, abour three thousand men. 29 For Mofes had faid, Confecrare your felves to day to the LORD, even every man upon hisfon,and upon his brother; that he may beftow upon you a blefling this day.

30 And it came to pafs on the morrow,that Mofes faid unto the people, Ye have finned a grat fin; and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I hall make an atonement for your fin

31 And Mofes returned unto the LORD, and faid, Oh, this people have fit ned a great fin, and have
