27 And the boys grew: and Eau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacobs a plain man dwelling in tents.

28 And Ifaac loved Efan, because he did eat of bis yenifon:but Rebekah loved Iacob.

29 And Jacob fod pot tage: and Efau came from the field, and he was faint. 20 And Efau faid ro Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee,with that fame red pattage; for I am faine: therefore was his name called Edom.

31And Jacob faid, Sell me this daythy birth right.

ANd there was a famine firft famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Ifaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philiftines, unto Gerar.

2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and faid,Go not down into Egypt: dwell in the land which I shall rell thee of.

6. And Ifaac dwelt in Gerar.

7 And the men of theplace asked bin of his wife and he faid,She is my fitter ;for he feared to fay (She is my wife;) left, faid he, the men of the place thould kill me for Rebekah, because the was fair to look upon. 14 For he had poffeffion of flocks, and poffeffion of herds, and great flore of fervants. And the Phill ftines envied him.

15 For all the wells which his fathers fervants had digged in thedays of Abra ham his father, the Philia ftines had stopped them, and filled them with earth, 16 And Abimelech faid unto Ifaac,Go.from us: for thou art much mightier than we.

17 And Ifaac departed thence,and pitchedhis tent Inthe valley of Gerar, and dwelt there

18 And Ifaac digged again

24 And theLord appeared unto him the fame night, and faid, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I amwith thee,and will blefs thee,andmultiply thy feed for my fervant Abrahams fake.

25 And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the Lord, and pit ched his tent there and there laacs feryantsdigged a well.

27 And Ifaac faid unto them, Wherefore come ye rome,feing ye hare me,and have fent me awayfromyou

29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have nor touched thee,& as we have done unto thee nothingbut good,and have fent thee a way in peace: thou art now the blefied of the Lord.

30 And he made them a feaft, and they did eat and drink

31 And they rofe up be times in the morning, and fware one to another and Ifaac fent them away, and they departed from him in peace.

32 And it came to pass the fame day, that Ifaacs fervants came, and told him concerning the well which they had dieged, and faid unto him, We have found

CHAP. XXVII. Awhen Nd it came to pafs, that when Ifaac was old, and his eyes were dim, fo that he could not fee, he called Efau his eldeft fon,andfaid unto him, My fon: And he faid unto him,Behold, bere am I.

2 And he fald, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death.

3 Now therefore, take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field;and take me fome venifon;

4 And make me favoury meat, fuch as I love, and bring it to me, that I may ear; that my foul may blefs Thee before I die.

5 And Rebekah heard when Ifaac fpake to Efau This fon and Efau went to the field to hunt for veni. fon, and to bring it.

6 And Rebekah fpake anto Jacob her fon,faying, Behold, I heard thy father Speak unto Efau thy brother, faying,

7 Bring me venifon, and make me favoury meat, zhat I may eat, and blefs thee before the Lord, before my death.

8 Now therefore.my fon, bey my voice, according to that which I command thee.

9. Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence wogood kids of thegoats; and I will make them favoury meat for thy father, fuch as he loveth."

10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

It And Jacob faid to Re bekah his mother, Behold, Efau my brother is a hairy man, 8c I am a fmooth man

17 And the gave the favoury meat, and the bread which the had prepared, into the hand of her fon Jacob.

18 And he came unto his father, and faid, My fa ther, and he faid, Here am I, who art thou myfont

19 And Jacob faid unto his father, I am Efau thy firft-born; I have done according as thou badeft me: arife, I pray thee, fit and ear of my venifon,that thy foul may blefs me.

20 And Ifaac faid unto his fon, How is it that thou haft found it fo quickly,my fon? And he fald, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me.

21 And Ifaac faid unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my fon, whether thou b my very fon Efau, or not.

22 And Jacob went near unro Ifaac his tather, and he felt him; and fald,The voice is Jacobs voice, bur the hands are the hands of Efau.

23 And he difcerned him not,becaufe his hands were. hairy; as his brother Efaus hands: So he bleffed him.

24 And he faid, Art thou my very fon Efau ? And he faid, I am.

28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, & the fatnefs of the earth. and plenty of corn & wine. 29 Let people ferve thee, and nations bow down to thee; be lord over thy bre. thren, and let thy mothers fons bow down to thee: Curfed be every one that curfeth thee, and bleffed bi he that bleffeth thee.

30 And It came to pafs, affoon as Ifaac had made an end of bleffing Jacob, and Jacob was yet fearce gone our from the refence of Ifaac his father, that Efau his brother came in from his hunting.

31 And he alfo had made favoury meat, and brought It unto his father; and faid unto his father,Let my father arife, and ear of his fons venifon, that thy foul may blefs me.

32 And Ifaac his father faid unto him, Who art thou? and he fald,

30 And Ifaac his father anfwered, and faid unto him, Behold, thy dwelling fhall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above. 40 And by thy fword (hale thou live, and thalt ferve thy brother; and it thall come to pa's when thou fhalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

41 And Efau hated Tacob, becaufe of the blef fing wherewith his father bleffed him; and Efau faid in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand, then will I flay my brother Jacob.

42 And thefe words of Efan her elder fon were told to Rebekah? And the fent & called Jacob her vounger. fon, and faid unto him, Behold, thy brother Efau, as rouching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.

43 Now therefore, my fon. obey my voice; and arife, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran..

34 And when Efau heard the words of his father, he crled with a great and exceeding birrer crv.and faid unto bis father, Blefs me, 44 And tarry with him a even me alfo, O my father. few days, until thy bro 35 And tre faid,Thy brothers fury turna ay; B5 45 Unt

2Arife,go to Padan-áram, to the houfe of Bethuelthy mothers father; and take thee a wife, from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mothers brother.

3And God Almighty blefs thee, and make thee fruitfull, and multiply thee, that thou mayeft be a mul titude of people.

4 And give thee the blef fing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy feed with thee, that thou mayeft inherit the land wherein thou art a ftranger,which God gave unto Abraham..

And Ifaac fent away Jacob,and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, fon of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob and Efans mother.

6 When Efau faw that Ifaac had bleffed Jacob and fent him way to Padanaram, to take bim a wife from thence and that as he bleffed him, he gave him a charge.faying, Thou fhalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan?

And thar Jacob obeyed, his father, and his mother, and was gone ro Padan

10 And Jacob went out from Beer theba, and went toward Haran :

11 And he lighted upon a certain place,and tarried there all night, because the fitn was fer and he took ofthe ftones of that place, & put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to fleep.

12 And he dreamed, and behold, a ladder fet upon the earth, and the top ofic reached to heaven; and behold, the angels of God afcending and defcending on it.

13 And behold, the Lord flood above it, and faid, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Ifaac, the land whereon thou lieft,to thee will I give it, and to thy feed.

14 And thy feed fhall be as the duft of the earth & thou shalt fpread abroad to the weft, and to the eaft, and to the north, and to the fouth: and in thee,and in thy feed hal all the fami. lies of the earth be bleffed. 15 And behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goeff, and will bring thee again into this land for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have fpoken to thee of

16 And Jacob awaked out of his fleep, & he faid, Surely the Lord is in this place, and I knew not. 17 And he was afraid, and fald, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the houfe of God, and. this is the gate of heaven..

18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the flone that he had put for his pillows, and fer it up for a pillar,and poured oyl upon the top of it.
