Vertical crude-oil engines of the 2-cycle type, built in sizes from 3 to 200 HP. with one, two and four cylinders.

The Seffle engines are made for a great variety of uses for which crude-oil engines are suited.

The industrial type is made for driving generators, centrifugal pumps, line shafts, etc. The marine type is especially well adapted for fishing and towing craft, small and moderate size cargo and passenger vessels, etc.

The Seffle engines run on low-priced oils, such as Texas and Solar oil, Russian mazut and other cheap oils, and substitutes for oils.

The Seffle engines are characterized by their exceedingly simple, strong and rigid design. Made of selected Swedish materials the workmanship is very high class as the works are equipped with the latest types of machines, measuring tools, and other aids of up-to-date manufacturing. All parts are interchangeable and stocked. The improvements made by the works make these machines particularly serviceable in reducing labour costs and performing heavy work under severe conditions. They may be entrusted to the care of any reliable person who needs to give them very little attention, and they perform their duty under most trying conditions. A special feature about them is their notably high overload capacity in which respect they surpass all competitors.

"Ellwe" High Pressure Crude-Oil Engine The >>Ellwe» engine is built on the two-stroke »Ellwe» engine principle in sizes from 9 to 60 B. H. P. per cylinder. It works on crude-oils, naphta, masut as well as on tar oils. The crude-oil consumption is 0.44 lb. per B. H. P. and hour at full load. Built as stationary engines with single, 2 and 4 cylinders; as marine engines with single and 2 cylinders, and either reverse gear or reversible propeller blades.

Universal Log saw-frame Inner sash width 22-34". Length of stroke 20 ft.

The >>Ellwe» engine works on the principle of a Diesel engine except that no compressed air is required for the fuel ignition. The compression and the maximum pressure are 450 to 500 lbs. per sq. inch, the mean effective pressure at normal load 45 to 48 lbs. per sq. inch. The »Ellwe» engine starts immediately without preheating, runs idle and takes load up to over 10 % overload without attention. From half load to 10 % overload the fuel consumption per B. H. P. and hour is almost constant.

Stationary and Marine Oil Engines, Diesel and Semi-Diesel types

The Nobel-Diesel company is a pioneer in building Diesel engines, and occupies a prominent position in that line. Diesel engines of an independent design were built by the company in Russia as early as in 1897, and were highly successful. Already in 1903 they were adapted for marine service. The first Nobel-Diesel marine engines were provided with electric power transmission to the propeller shaft, but in 1907, a direct reversing four-cycle Diesel engine, the first of its kind in the world, was installed in a Russian submarine. The business expanded rapidly, the output totalling 170,000 HP. As the company became unable to continue operations in Russia, the former director of the Nobel Works in Petrograd, Mr Ludwig Nobel, decided to establish the present works at Nynäshamn. He also secured the coöperation of the engineers and staff of the Petrograd works for his new undertaking.

The chief interest of the new concern was the resumption of Nobel-Diesel engine building according to perfected designs.

Hot-bulb engines of an improved type, the »Gamma» engines, were added to the line, so that at the present time the production comprises both Diesel and Semi-Diesel engines, of which the illustrations show some standard types.
