Motorships Many Ocean-going motorships have been built and engined by Götaverken. Amongst these are to be mentioned: Dieselmotors Dieselmotors of the Burmeister & Wain-system are built. A new boiler shop has been erected in 1922. Götaverken is the Swedish licensee of the Babcock & Wilcox' boiler. Special departments have charge of structural steel-works, bridges and cranes. Heating radiators and castiron sectional boilers are also manufactured at Götaverken. Further Götaverken makes a speciality of Iron-sashes with their so called >>Ferro» windows. At last it may be mentioned that »>Sirocco »-fans are fabricated at their plants. Originally adapted for construction of wooden vessels, the building of iron vessels was commenced in 1851. Since 1870 the yards have designed and built a great number of large size steamers and other craft, and are rated as one of the most important shipbuilding establishments in Scandinavia.
