The works are in a particularly good position for installing marine engines by having their own beds and yards. The experience and facilities are therefore the very best for equipping new and old vessels with propelling machinery.

No water injection into the combustion chamber as in the ordinary types of 2-cycle engines; Speed of engines regulated at all loads by means of a variable fuel supply during each working stroke instead of on the »hit-and-miss» principle;

Ignition temperature maintained without external heating, even when engines are running light (a great advantage in motorvessels when berthing at quays or passing through locks);

Lowest grades of crude-oil; Force-feed lubrication.

The Bergsund vertical stationary engines are built in sizes ranging from 5 to 260 HP with from 1 to 4 cylinders. Fuel consumption very low, varying according to size from 0-640 to 0 530 lbs per HP hour. Speed 600-250 r. p. m. depending on the size.

Also made portable for agricultural purposes in sizes from 5-18 HP.

The stationary engines give very fine service for driving electric light plants, pumps of every description, compressors, winches, capstans, etc. They are especially suitable for driving the pumps of salvage-boats, the works making a speciality of such equipments.

The Bergsund vertical marine engines are built in all sizes from 5 to 260 HP having from 1 to 4 cylinders. The fuel consumption varies according to size from 0-640 to 0.530 lbs per horsepower-hour, and the speed from 600 to 250 r. p. m.

The marine engines with 2 or more cylinders are fitted with a direct-acting reversing device of an exceptionally simple and reliable type using neither compressor or other auxiliary arrangements. This device which is used exclusively on Bergsund engines makes the manoeuvring of the vessel quite as easy and efficient as with a steam engine. The reversing is accomplished at any speed of the engine without disconnecting the propeller shaft, thus making a friction clutch unneccessary. Patents have been taken out on this device in all countries.

Smaller sizes of marine engines may be fitted either with mechanical reverse gear, or propeller with reversible blades, according to the requirements of each particular case.

High-Speed Lathes, type GSC, with single pulley drive and change gear box, built in sizes ranging from 16" (400 mm.) to 52" (1,300 mm.) swing over bed and in all usual lengths. They are of specially strong design and utilize to full extent the best highspeed steels.

Gap Lathes, type GS BG and GS CG, with hinge bridge, cone pulley drive and back gear and change gear box, the latter type has single pulley drive. Sizes range from 16" (400 mm.) to 32" (800 mm.) swing over bed. They are made in all usual lengths.

Surfacing Lathe, type PSC, designed for constant speed drive, has very high capacity and utilizes the best highspeed steels. Drive is from countershaft by means of single pulley. Swing without pit 6' to 7' (1,800 to 2,000 mm.)
