The Köping Engineering Works are intimately connected with the Hallström family, Organization well known in the Swedish engineering trade. The founder of the works was Mr O. G. Hallström, C. E., of whom a photograph is reproduced on this page. Under his able leadership the business developed rapidly and his efforts were richly rewarded by the reputation acquired by the works during his lifetime. Mr Hallström was succeeded by no less than four of his sons in the management of the concern: Mr. Ivar Hallström who succeeded his father and conducted the business until his death in 1897, Mr Hjalmar Hallström managing director from 1897 to 1906. On the death of the latter the works were managed jointly by his brothers, Gunnar Hallström and Hadar Hallström who have since retired, the former in 1919 and the latter in 1923. The present managing director is Mr Gösta Klemming, C. E, since the beginning of the present year.

Board of Directors: Rich. Julin, director, Stockholm, Hadar Hallström, treasurer, and Gösta Klemming, managing director.

Export Sales Corporation

of the leading Swedish Machine Tool Manufacturers

Sveaexport, the popular name of this firm, was organized in 1917 as the joint sales office of the principal machine tool manufacturers in Sweden. The concerns in question are the only shareholders of the Sveaexport. The latter has been instituted to handle all sales as well as shipments to foreign countries of the products of the various works. It is in all respects an independent concern with complete discretion in the matter of selection and handling the different machines and tools on the international markets. In pooling their export interests the tool-making works were in the first instance actuated by a desire to eliminate competition between themselves, and also to be left free to specialize in the lines best suited for the facilities of the several works. The results of this policy has been very satisfactory both in increasing the volume of the total sales, and in giving the works an opportunity to improve their machines and manufacturing methods.

The line of machines and small tools handled by the firm comprise complete equipments for every kind of engineering establishment, from the smallest repair shop to the largest locomotive works, including machinist's tools of all kinds; furthermore, a complete line of sawmill machinery, and wood-working machines for joinery and furniture factories; and also machines for tinsmiths and coppersmiths.

The firm prepares plans and gives estimates for complete equipment of engineering works and places the services of its expert staff of engineers at the disposal of prospective customers.

The firm has recently contracted for the complete equipment of a large Government locomotive works in Central Europe in the face of strong competition by German, British, and American manufacturers. Other contracts include Government orders for special machines to the South of Europe.

The Sveaexport has an efficiently organized system of agencies, especially for the overseas trade.

General

The firm started operations in 1886 with a small shop, but the constantly increas- Retrospective ing demand resulted in far larger works becoming necessary. For armouring of vaults are used hardened coiled compound steel strips of the best Swedish material and real compound armour plate for the walls. Among users may be mentioned over 300 banking institutions in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Russia. Rosengren's fire, fall and thief-resisting safes are made in many standard types, from light ones of the ordinary popular style up to the strongest armoured safes for Banking institutions and combining and conforming with the highest standards of sterling values. The materials and workmanship throughout are of the highest

grade and every detail of construction is made
in the most up-to-date machines under the closest
inspection.

An invaluable feature is the Rosengren patented
locking device with interchangeable sleeve-plug
making the use of false keys quite out of the
question. This lock has been adopted universally
by all Swedish and many other Scandinavian
banks. Several Combination and Time lock sys-
tems are also designed and supplied by the
company for use on Strong Room Doors, etc.

Rosengren's strong room doors for fire-proof vaults and burglarproof treasuries possess the same excellent features which characterize the Rosengren safes. They are made both in standard types and to special order according to the nature of business and magnitude of institution. Among lines in which the Rosengren company has been specially successful of late years may be mentioned Safe Deposit Boxes and Deposit Vault installations. Their success in this line is chiefly due to the advantages presented by the ingenious locking device mentioned above, careful construction and neat appearance. The company's success may be proved by the fact that all home banks and several prominent Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and Russian banks have entrusted the company with their Strong Room installations.
