The Hermes machines are built of finest obtainable Swedish tubes and other materials selected with great care. This in combination with skilful methods, resulting from long and costly experiments, has made the Hermes cycles unsurpassed for strength and durability, an absolutely high quality machine. The Hermes cycles, therefore, can be relied upon to give good service on all kinds of roads. Every man in the factory is a specialist of long standing on the particular part he is engaged on, and is thoroughly conversant with its importance for the machine to which it belongs. The bicycles are entirely made at the factory from the smallest part to the finished article, which is a further guarantee in regard to the reliability and other qualities of the Hermes bicycles. A striking feature is that nearly all the workers at the shops are riders, and frequently take part in races, which gives them opportunities to a practical study of the qualities demanded of a machine in practical work. Every Hermes cycle is tested in the special inspection department by an expert, whose duty it is to see that each piece is just the right one for the machine, and fitted as if the cycle were to be used in a trying race. Hermes roadsters, gentlemen's and ladies' models, are made with frames from 20" to 28", fitted with either Eadie or New Departure coaster hubs and with tyres of the works' own make. Hermes road racer, new improved type, 22" frame, has met with great favour among sportsmen.
