Senator Edwards of Lafayette presented a petition from Warrensburg Lodge of Good Templars, praying for constitutional amendment prohibiting the manufacture or sale of intoxicating liquors; which was referred to the Committee on Constitutional Amendments.

Senator Edwards of St. Charles introduced Senate bill No. 137, entitled "An act to amend sections 833, 835 and 842, article 3, chapter 21 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, entitled 'Railroad classificationcharges-commissioners;'" which was read first time and 50 copies ordered printed.

Senator Rogers presented a petition from the citizens of St. Louis and the State of Missouri, asking for a constitutional amendment prohibiting the liquor trafic; which was referred to the Committee on Constitutional Amendments.

Senator Edwards of Lafayette presented a petition from the citizens of Waverly, asking for a constitutional amendment prohibiting the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors in this State; which was referred to the Committee on Constitutional Amendments.

Senator Rouse presented a petition from citizens of Randolph county praying for an enactment of such laws as will regulate transportation on railroads at reasonable rates; which was referred to the Committee on Internal Improvements.

Senator Pehle presented two petitions from citizens of Franklin county praying for the passage of Senate bill No. 79; which was referred to Committee on Ways and Means.

Senator Edwards of St. Charles presented a petition from citizens of St. Charles county, asking that assessment be changed from August to June; which was referred to Committee on Ways and Means.

Senator Perkins granted leave of absence ten days.

Resolved, That, in justice to the great producing interests of the State, the Senate should promptly pass a suitable bill, changing the time for the assessment of property for taxation from August to June or April; and that the change should be made by an independent bill and not left to the hazard of a revision of the revenue law.

Senator Cottey moved to postpone further consideration until Tuesday, February 22.
