the same Author. The present volume contains the later events of the wondrous life of the Lord Jesus Christ, and especially, that greatest of all events, His death upon the cross ; with the blessed consequences that flow to the human race therefrom.

Doubtless every Christian parent is under the strongest obligation to provide for the early and faithful instilment of the words of the Gospel into the minds of his children, leaving the results, of course, in the hands of a gracious and good God. “Ye shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house,” (Deut. xi. 19,) is a command to the people of God, demanding the same willing acquiescence now as it did three thousand years ago.

May the children who read this little book, whether by themselves, or in

company with those of more mature years, be interested, edified, taught, and blessed by this humble mode of imparting instruction of the gentleness, goodness, loving-kindness, and truth of Him who was indeed the “holy child.” (Acts iv. 30.) And may the teacher possess the same faith and confidence in the power and efficacy of Divine truth that breathe through those beautiful words of Moses, “My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the Dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the SHOWERS

grass; because I will publish the name of the Lord.(Deut. xxxii. 2, 3.)
