Early Franciscan government : Ellias to Bonaventure

Early historians blamed Elias, a contemporary and friend of St Francis, for the confllicts and persecutions in the Franciscan order. Mrs Brooke gives a more historical account of Elias, showing that he was never as dominant a figure as supposed, and that responsibility for the troubles in the order belonged to many of the early friars.
